A National level CBPR workshop was held on 10 August 2007 at the Civil Service Officers Institute, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi . The capacity building for poverty reduction (CBPR) is firmly rooted in the training initiative. The Administrative Training Institutes (ATIs) have a distinct edge in training the civil servants of different cadres
Shri Ajay Sawhney, Joint Secretary (Training), DoPT warmly welcomed all participants to the workshop. He underscored the basic objectives of the workshop as two fold:
Stock taking of the first year programme in four pilot ATIs
Sensitise the new ATIs on modalities of implementation of the programme

Shri Vineet Pandey, Director (Training) thanked all for the overwhelming response that saw 45 participants representing Heads of ATIs and their Nodal Officers actively participating in the workshop. Full proceedings and more photographs of the National Workshop will shortly be uploaded.
Dr. G. Prasanna Kumar, former Director General, HIPA spoke about the seminal importance of CBPR’s training initiative and underscored the need for innovation in order to make a region-sector specific meaningful replicable model for CBPR.
Shri P. K. Gera, Director, SPIPA, Ahmedabad gave a visual display of the Vibrant Governance in Gujarat .
Shri Ajay Mittal, Director, Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HP IPA) Shimla, who had hosted the first CBPR inception workshop in June 2006 emphasised the resolve to pilot the training initiative in the hill state.
Dr. Kumudini Sharma, Prof. Palaniappan and Shri Ranjit Sahay, Nodal Officers of Phase I pilot states also made presentations on their respective experiences and clarified many queries pertaining to the implementation of the project.
The soft copy of the released Project Report and the inaugural issue of the Newsletter were formally uploaded to the CBPR portal before the conclusion of the Workshop by Shri Vineet Pandey
